Aspyr Media Inc. Ships `The Sims Makin' Magic' for Macintosh

Entertainment Editors/High-Tech Writers

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 25, 2004--Aspyr Media Inc. announced that "The Sims(tm) Makin' Magic," the latest expansion pack for "The Sims(tm)," began shipping today. The game was licensed from Electronic Arts (Nasdaq:ERTS) and Macintosh conversion was completed by Aspyr Studios, Aspyr's internal development group.

In "The Sims Makin' Magic," Sims are granted magical powers to cast spells. At home, players can unlock mystical recipes for spells from the family spellbook and use their magic to transform everyday objects into helpful minions, hypnotize friends or turn a neighbor into a frog. Players can also cast spells to take care of the needs of their Sims, keep tidy the house and cook meals, meddle with relationships and bring ordinary objects to life. Every spell has a unique backfire if Sims lack that magic something. Hair-raising consequences include toad plagues, snakes and lightning strikes.

Players can teleport to the all-new Magic Town location and earn rewards while performing mind-boggling tricks at a side show or dueling it out in a magic arena. Secret recipes can also be discovered while on a quest for unusual ingredients, or wild carnival rides can be built from the ground up.

There are more than 175 new items and a cast of eclectic new characters available to assist and amuse players including a pet dragon, a skeleton maid, a garden gnome and many others.

In "The Sims Makin' Magic," expect the unexpected.

"The Sims Makin' Magic" is the final addition to "The Sims" original series. The game is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $29.99. "The Sims" is required to play "The Sims Makin' Magic."
