BOSTON, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dialog, a Thomson (NYSE: TOC) (TSX: TOC) business and a leading worldwide provider of online-based information services and integrated information solutions, today announced a series of upgrades to Dialog NewsEdge, its industry-specific, personalized current awareness and news alerting service for corporations, that will facilitate information sharing within subscribing organizations.

Dialog NewsEdge combines up-to-the-minute news, analysis and research culled from thousands of global sources. Highly experienced editors, who specialize in individual industry sectors, personally manage customized editorial relevance rankings. The service delivers business-critical news and research throughout the working day, and also includes a searchable archive of content appropriate for the subscribing organization.

"Knowledge-dependent decision-makers rely on Dialog NewsEdge as the leading personalized business information service of its kind. It delivers the news and analysis they need to stay abreast of market developments, but without the clutter and distractions of unimportant or irrelevant information," said Cynthia Murphy, Dialog senior vice president of strategic marketing. "With our recent improvements to Dialog NewsEdge, the service is now an even more powerful resource for users and their organizations."

The upgrades announced today include improved methods for printing, saving and sharing multiple delivered and retrieved documents, a boost to using the information delivered through Dialog NewsEdge collaboratively within companies and departments.

In another improvement that will help with the sharing of information, the new "shared user" feature allows multiple users within an organization to access document sets without the potential for disrupting automated, ongoing search queries set up and managed by a single authorized user.

An additional enhancement is the highlighting of search terms within retrieved documents, enabling users to more quickly judge the relevance of articles and reports.
