TO BUSINESS AND EDUCATION EDITORS:

Market Leaders in IT Certification and Training Combine Resources to Create
                             Test Prep Powerhouse

CHICAGO, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaplan Professional, a division of worldwide educational services provider Kaplan, Inc., today announced that a subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc. has acquired the assets of Transcender LLC, the market leader in IT certification. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Transcender is a subsidiary of Information Holdings Inc. (NYSE: IHI). Transcender will be joining Kaplan Professional's existing IT test prep and training businesses, which include Self Test Software, a leading provider of exam simulation software for technical certifications, and Perfect Access Speer, which provides software training for law firms and financial services companies.

Transcender and Self Test Software represent the industry's number one and number two providers of IT practice tests respectively, preparing an estimated 250,000 professionals annually for IT certifications from leading vendors including Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, Novell, Lotus, CIW and CompTIA.

"We're pleased to be able to combine the wealth of resources and expertise of the two industry leaders with Kaplan's vast experience in test preparation," said Eric Cantor, President, Kaplan Professional. "This acquisition reflects Kaplan's continued commitment to the IT certification market, and will enable us to significantly enhance our certification solutions for IT professionals."

"Additionally, IT professionals will be able to take advantage of the most robust practice test offerings on the market today, with more content, enhanced features and improved functions," Cantor added.

Founded in 1992, Transcender offers approximately 65 practice tests around the most popular certifications. The company has three product lines: TranscenderCert(TM) exam simulations, TranscenderFlash(TM) quiz software and TransTrainer(TM) training videos. These products, available on CD-ROM or directly downloadable from the company's Web site, are marketed to computer and IT professionals in self-study programs, instructor-led training courses, colleges and universities, and corporations with large IT staffs. Self Test Software, located in Atlanta, GA, was the first to develop IT test prep products, establishing the certification preparation industry. The first offering, Big Red Self Test for the Novell NetWare certification, was introduced in 1992. Today, Self Test has a database of over 55,000 questions and provides over 140 different vendor authorized certification practice tests. In addition to practice tests, Self Test also provides study guides and exam review sessions.

"This is an exciting opportunity to bring together the two most trusted names in IT certification preparation," said Chip Schuneman, President of Self Test Software. "As the leading companies who pioneered the IT exam preparation market, Self Test and Transcender will now together help to shape the future of IT certification test prep."
