Former U.S. Housing Secretary and NFL MVP encourages distance learning students to leverage real world deliverables for career advancement

American InterContinental University Online (AIU Online), one of the fastest growing universities in North America and subsidiary of Career Education Corporation (NASDAQ:CECO), today announced that Jack Kemp will be the speaker at AIU Online's upcoming web-based graduation ceremonies held on Saturday, September 6.

"I am delighted to deliver this year's commencement address to AIU Online graduates around the world," said Kemp. "AIU Online is delivering the future of education today. As more students turn to distance learning for their education, higher learning institutions like AIU Online, can help them enter new fields or advance their careers. AIU Online's commitment to these students is clearly evident by their degree programs that focus on real-world problems and workplace skill development."

Kemp is co-director of Empower America, a public advocacy organization he co-founded in 1993 devoted to ensuring that government actions foster growth, economic well-being, freedom and individual responsibility. He is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and served four years as secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the administration of President George H. Bush. Prior to his political appointments, he was a professional NFL quarterback and MVP.

"It is an honor to have Jack Kemp address this year's AIU Online graduates," said Nick Fluge, president of Career Education Corporation's Online Education Group and chief operating officer of AIU Online.

"Mr. Kemp has distinguished himself in every one of his chosen career paths. He is an outstanding role model and an important voice of leadership. I am proud and honored to have Mr. Kemp congratulate, motivate and inspire our 2003 graduates," said Fluge.

In addition to Kemp's commencement speech, the graduation ceremony will include an address from Fluge to the undergraduate and graduate degree recipients in all programs including Information Technology, Business Administration, Visual Communication and Education. Creating an even more 'virtual' graduation experience, AIU Online is providing students with 'tickets' to distribute to their families and friends to view the ceremony where students can look forward to the AIU Online 2003 Honors announcements as well as a reading of the graduates.

The 2003 ceremony wraps up AIU Online's most successful year to date, producing record numbers, including an exceptional student job placement rate and a student population approaching seven times that of the University's enrollment last year. The real-time online graduation ceremony is another example of the student-focused technology accessible to all AIU Online students, creating an integrated learning experience and interactive community allowing for dynamic exchange between instructors and classmates.
