AltaVista Launches New Toolbar; Powered by AltaVista's Precision Search, New Toolbar Enables Users to Perform Searches and Translations Anywhere on the Web

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 2003--AltaVista, a business of Overture Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:OVER) and a leading provider of search services and technology, today introduced the AltaVista Toolbar, a free, customizable search tool that offers Internet users and business partners important advantages in searching and navigating the Web through more than 20 time saving, easy-to-use features. The toolbar offers users a convenient way to access AltaVista's search functionality and partners an opportunity to deliver co-branded, state-of-the-art search functionality to their customers. The new toolbar is designed to save time and enhance a user's search experience through unique features that include the ability to translate complete Web pages or individual phrases into 10 languages. Users can check weather, area codes, ZIP codes, time zones, exchange rates, and much more through the toolbar. The toolbar allows users to conveniently search Web pages as well as the world's largest collection of image, video, and audio files.

Once downloaded, the AltaVista Toolbar is displayed at the top of the Web browser. Users can personalize the toolbar's layout and functionality by adding or removing optional features.

AltaVista Toolbar features and options include:

-- World Wide Web, News and Multimedia Search: Save time by having AltaVista search always accessible via a browser. The toolbar provides fast and convenient access to all of AltaVista's Web, news and multimedia search results, including the world's largest multimedia collection with more than 550 million image, audio and video files.

-- Shortcuts Lookup: Obtain answers to specific questions about time zones, U.S. area and ZIP codes, currency exchange rates and weather for locations worldwide.

-- Last Search: Users no longer have to click on the Back Button multiple times to see their last search results. With the Last Search button, users can conveniently jump back to their last search.

-- Translation: AltaVista's popular language translation feature, Babel Fish, translates words and Web pages into 10 languages, including English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Swedish, Japanese, Korean, and Russian.

-- Highlight: Clicking "Highlight" will pinpoint the exact location on the page that contains a search term. This feature will simultaneously highlight up to five terms in different colors.

-- Popup Blocker: Eliminate annoying pop-up ads by turning on the "Popup Blocker" feature on the AltaVista Toolbar.
