Fair Isaac's RoamEx Roamer Data Exchanger to Help CANTV Movilnet, C.A. Reduce Roaming Fraud

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 14, 2003--

Leading International Roamer Visibility Network Will Enable Venezuela's Largest Wireless Services Provider to Enhance Real-Time Fraud Detection Capabilities

Fair Isaac Corporation (NYSE:FIC), the leading provider of analytics and decision technology, today announced that Telecommunicaciones Movilnet, C.A. (Movilnet), the wireless division of Venezuela's largest telecommunications operator CANTV (NYSE:VNT), has selected Fair Isaac's RoamEx(R) roamer data exchanger to more easily and cost-effectively mitigate roaming fraud.

The use of RoamEx will enable Movilnet, a member of the Verizon International group of companies, to increase roaming revenues -- income from mobile phone users gained while callers are outside their home carriers' local network -- while decreasing fraud losses by providing roaming call detail records in near real time. RoamEx automatically sends completed call detail records covering voice, message and data calls from the serving operator to the home operator within seconds, providing Movilnet with wider visibility of a subscriber when roaming and allowing the company to identify and respond almost immediately to a potential fraud threat.

"Fair Isaac's RoamEx is acknowledged as the leading provider of timely roaming data throughout the wireless industry," said Jose Alberto Lozada, IT Risk Control Manager at CANTV, Movilnet. "In particular, we chose RoamEx for its ability to seamlessly interface with our existing enterprise fraud detection and prevention system, which covers the entire spectrum of services, including fixed line, prepaid and post-paid, Internet and pay phone services. As an integral part of a single, comprehensive fraud management platform, RoamEx will now enable us to also respond to roaming fraud activities in a timely fashion, substantially reduce the risk of fraud-related losses and therefore deliver more value to our wireless customers."

Fair Isaac's RoamEx Roamer Data Exchanger is the leading real-time roamer visibility network for the wireless industry, and serves as one foundation for Fair Isaac's growing suite of telecommunications applications to address fraud, credit risk management and account management decision making. RoamEx handles 95 percent of all roaming call records for the North America wireless industry and currently processes over 2 billion call detail records every month around the globe for more than 65 wireless carriers.

"We are proud to work with Movilnet, a leader in the Latin American wireless market, as we continue to expand worldwide RoamEx coverage," said Mike Gandolfo, vice president of Fair Isaac's Global Telecom solutions. "The roamer visibility and high usage report generator provided by RoamEx already fills a gap in the fraud defenses of most North American wireless carriers. As international demand grows, we look forward to delivering industry-standard, sophisticated tools that best meet the needs of our wireless clients' high performing, reliable fraud control solutions."

The RoamEx solution is designed to meet any wireless carrier's (e.g. CDMA, TDMA, GSM, etc.) needs for near real-time data collection, call detail record exchange, and account management systems. Fair Isaac provides day-to-day management, monitoring, maintenance and technical support for the RoamEx network, making the wireless carriers' resource commitment minimal.
