Westwood One Announces Launch of 3rd and Long With Howie Long

NEW YORK, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Westwood One (NYSE: WON) announced today the launch of the new one-minute daily sports feature, 3rd and Long with Howie Long, which will begin airing September 1, 2003. Hosted by NFL Hall of Famer and film and TV star, Howie Long, 3rd and Long with Howie Long will feature Long sharing his opinions on topics ranging from sports to style and current events.

Howie Long is the most recognized sports announcer in America (tied for No.1 according to a recent Q-survey). Long was a dominating defensive force in the NFL for 13 seasons (1981-93) and finished his career with eight Pro Bowl appearances and 84 sacks. Long was a member of the Raiders' Super Bowl XVIII championship team, was voted to the NFL's All-Decade Team of the '80s and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2000. Long began his broadcasting career in 1994 as an NFL analyst for Fox NFL Sunday and has since been regarded as one of the top NFL analysts, receiving an Emmy Award Outstanding Sports Personality/Analyst. Long is also an accomplished film actor starring in such films as Broken Arrow with John Travolta and 1998's Firestorm, which featured Long in his first lead role.
