Emmy Award-Winning Journalist Janjigian Joins MGM

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (NYSE: MGM) has tapped Janet Janjigian as its Senior Vice President Corporate Communications.

Janjigian will assist in coordinating corporate communications throughout the company including MGM's mentoring programs, and will work closely with the MPAA on Congressional issues. She reports to Joe Fitzgerald, Executive Vice President Investor Relations and Corporate Communications. "I am very pleased to have Janet join us," said Fitzgerald. Ms. Janjigian comes to MGM after years of working in Washington, D.C., as one of the top journalists and producers in television news. She has covered the White House, the Capitol, the Pentagon and the State Department as well as general assignment. She is best known for her investigative work on the use and misuse of pension funds in NBC's critically-acclaimed hour documentaries with NBC News President Reuven Frank as well as her "Personal Look" series at NBC News, a six-part exploration of the impact of the earthquake in Armenia. Ms. Janjigian was the only journalist in the country to know the identity of the woman interpreting the demands from the abductors holding the Americans hostage at the Embassy in Tehran. Her op-ed piece in The New York Times on this subject caught the attention of Ted Koppel at ABC News, who asked her to join his team at Nightline. Ms. Janjigian has won numerous awards for her work, including two Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in the News and Documentary Division, the Dartmouth Tuck Award from the Dartmouth School of Business for outstanding reporting of business and economic issues and outstanding news coverage from American Women in Radio and Television. In Washington, Janjigian worked as a senior producer for NBC News, producer for NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, and at ABC News Nightline with Ted Koppel. In Los Angeles, she worked as a producer at CNN Newsstand. She has been published in The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, and the Boston Globe.

After receiving a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Southern California, Ms. Janjigian earned an M.A. in communications from American University in Washington, D.C., and graduated from the Executive Global Business Leadership and Management Program of the Georgetown University School of Business. She is a member of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., American Women in Radio and Television, and the International Women's Media Foundation.
