NBC Olympics & Clear Channel Advantage Announce Joint Marketing Alliance for Next Five Olympic Games

Entertainment Editors/Sports Editors/Business Editors

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 13, 2003--NBC, America's Olympic Network, and Clear Channel Advantage, the preeminent provider of media-marketing initiatives that enable advertisers and their agencies to reach and motivate today's busy, "Gone From Home(TM)" consumers, today announced a joint marketing alliance for the next five Olympic Games.

The partnership pairs the nation's No. 1 television network with the nation's largest radio broadcaster and leading live entertainment producer to effectively reach 3-out-of-4 Americans. The joint announcement was made today by John Miller, Co-President, The NBC Agency and Don Howe, President, Clear Channel Advantage.

The agreement begins with the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, which commence with the Opening Ceremony one year from today - August 13, 2004. The deal extends through the 2012 Olympic Games to be held in a host city yet to be determined.

"Combining the nation's No. 1 television network with the Clear Channel Advantage platforms will take NBC's Olympic promotion to a new level," said Miller. "We are constantly searching for creative ways to effectively promote to an audience that has become increasingly more difficult to reach. This long-term partnership with Clear Channel Advantage provides a way for NBC to go beyond its platforms and further promote the Olympics."

Howe said: "Clear Channel and NBC have a strong history of collaborating to build unprecedented excitement for the network's programming. We're thrilled that NBC recognizes the power of our platform to reach people wherever and whenever they are gone from home, and look forward to creating multiple promotional tie-ins surrounding the network's Olympic coverage."

NBC will present unprecedented 24-hour, around-the-clock coverage of the 2004 Olympic Games from Athens, Greece. The five NBC Networks: NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo and Telemundo will offer the most in-depth Olympic coverage in history and for the first-time provide some coverage of every one of the 28 Summer Olympic sports. Telemundo's Spanish-language broadcast will provide the first exclusively non-English language Olympic broadcast in U.S. television history. The 806.5 total hours of coverage from Athens nearly doubles the 441.5 total hours of coverage from Sydney in 2000 and more than quadruples the 171.5 broadcast hours from Atlanta in 1996.

NBC, America's Olympic Network, holds the exclusive U.S. broadcast rights to the Olympic Games through 2012, which include Athens in 2004, Torino, Italy in 2006, Beijing in 2008, Vancouver in 2010 and the Summer Games of 2012.
