Johannes von Bismarck, Ph.D. is responsible for sourcing and executing mergers and acquisitions transactions, as well as private equity investments in Europe across all media segments, with particular focus on the German, Austrian and Swiss markets. Prior to joining VSS's London office in 2004, Dr. von Bismarck was a Director at the Munich based investment bank Communications Equity Associates (CEA) within the European media and entertainment industry group, where he specialized in TV broadcasting, cable TV, film production, film distribution, sports rights and publishing. Prior to CEA, he worked as an M&A advisor at the German private merchant bank Joh. Berenberg, Gossler & Co. (Berenberg Bank), working on mergers and acquisitions, structured finance and leverage buy out transactions. Dr. von Bismarck gained his first M&A experience as an attorney and at the German Trustee Agency (Treuhandanstalt), advising on the privatization of former East German companies. He started his banking career with a two year training program at Deutsche Bank.

Dr. von Bismarck is a trained attorney-at-law with degrees from the University of Munich and Berlin Department of Justice. He holds a diploma in banking and earned a Ph.D. in international comparative law from Humboldt University of Berlin.
